MA Academic Calendar

PRE-SEMESTER 2015

  • 14 September 2016:  Advised arrival for students wishing to rent a flat.

  • 28-29 September 2016: Advised arrival and check-in to University housing for student

  •  End of September (TBC): Orientation week run by the Erasmus Student Network. All international students are invited to join Erasmus students.

  • 29  September: Students moving to university housing may do so.

  • 30 September 2016: Orientation for new MA students and Study Abroad

  • 30 September  2016: Deadline for payment of tuition fees (First instalment). 

AUTUMN SEMESTER 2016/2017

  • 30 September 2016: Orientation for new MA students and Study Abroad

  • 1 October 2016, TBA: Official inauguration ceremony of the academic year of the Jagiellonian University. The ceremony is preceded by Mass and a procession from Collegium Maius.

  •  1 October 2016: Integration day at CES (optional)

  • 3 October 2016: First day of CES MA regular autumn semester classes

  •  4 October, 2016 (Time TBA): Inaugural Lecture for the Centre for European Studies

  • 5-10 October 2016: Integration trip (highly recommended)

  •  3-14 October 2016: Registration for autumn courses and languages

  • TBA : Trip to Nowa Huta

  • Mid- October 2016: Election of Student Representatives for 2016/17

  • 15 – 31 October 2016: Second-year students may renew their legitymacja (student ID) for the autumn semester by submitting it to the administration office

  • 11 November 2016: Independence Day – no classes at University 

  • 22 December 2016: Last day of MA-level classes before Christmas break

  • 23 December 2016 – 2 January 2017: Christmas and New Year break; no classes

  • 3 January 2017: Autumn semester MA-level classes resume

  • 6 January 2017: Epiphany, no classes

  • January 2017, TBA: MAES and Double-degree programme Responsio (public presentation of MA thesis work-in-progress by MAES, IMESS, IMRCEES, MA in European Studies/European and Global Governance students)

  • 29 January 2017: Last day of MA-level autumn semester classes

  • 30 January – 11 February 2017: MA-level exam period

  • 12 – 17 February 2017: Winter break, no classes

  • 23 February 2017 : Deadline for payment of tuition fees (Second instalment)

  • 18 – 24 February 2017: Re-sit exam session for autumn 2016 courses

SPRING SEMESTER 2017

  • 24-25 February 2017: Study trip to Warsaw

  • 27 February 2017: Start of MA-level spring semester classes

  • 27 February – 10 March 2017: Students may register for spring courses.

  • 15 – 31 March 2017: Students may renew their legitymacja (student ID) for the spring semester by submitting it to the administration office

  • 16-17 April 2016 – Easter Holiday break, no classes

  • 29 April – 5 May 2017 (TBC): Study trip*

  • 1 - 3 May 2017: May Day, Rector's Hours, Constitution Day – no classes at University

  •  mid-May 2017: Juwenalia (Student carnival – no classes on Friday)

  •  14 June 2017: Last day of spring classes

  •  16 – 29 June 2017: Final examination period

  •  5 September 2017: IMRCEES - Deadline for submission of MA thesis

  •  5 September 2017: IMESS – Deadline for submission of MA thesis

  • 1 – 15 September 2017: Re-sit exam session for spring 2016 courses

  •  30 September 2017: Final deadline for submission of thesis (MAES)

* Regular MA classes will NOT take place during the time scheduled for the Autumn Semester study trip.
